So picture this, a camper of 4 South African's touring through Europe on our own. All credit must go to Mom [June Louw] who planned our entire trip. So here we are in Cologne, Germany and we are in search of the famous Cologne Cathederal. I can't remember if we had a map or not, but one thing was for sure, anywhere you drove in Cologne you could see those stunning spires (the second tallest in the world) towering above everything. Round and round in circles we drove, until eventually.... we found it!
And here I thought Notre Dame took long to build...try this out. Work began in 1248AD and ended in 1880AD – A mind blowing 632 years! This could have had something to do with a little problem they had..... at some point in time the plans went missing. When they were miraculously re-discovered in the 19th century, work continued and the cathederal was completed.
Was it some strange fate then that we got a tad lost the day as we tried to find it? Maybe not. Maybe now 27 years later after that experience, I've learned for myself that there are times when we can get a tad lost in our relationship with God. Like our efforts that day though, I have learnt too that persistant seeking of the face of God will eventually reveal his majesty!
