The Horror of the cross

I think for so many of us, Easter has become so commercialized that we find it hard to connect with reality of what happened that day.

I thank God for a movie like the passion of the Christ because it did open up our eyes to a small bit of the reality of the horror of that day.  But truth be told, it still does not depict the full tale.

The cat of 9 tales used to whip Christ with was filled with glass, stone and any other sharp object the Romans could attach to a leather belt.  It was designed to wrap around the body and wrip great big chunks of flesh out.... we don't see that in the movie.

The nails used to peirce his hands and feet were larger than we think and they were hamerred higher than the hand between the two bones in the arm, otherwise they would have just torn right off.

The reason we can so easily dismiss the cross is because we refuse to look at it for it's reality......Let's stop doing that and realize the full price Christ paid for our salvation!
