word, a still small voice and an inner witness. In this segment we
look at God's voice through his word. Going back to the basics we
discussed earlier. Reading your bible is so important to help you,
not just with getting to know God and Jesus better, but in getting to
know his voice too.
When you commit yourself to regular reading of the word of God, you
will find over time that there will be many ocassions when something
you read in the bible will just jump off the page and speak right into
your situation.
How should we approach reading the word. Well for starters it's good
to read one of the gospels, and the book of John is usually
recommended. Then skip the rest of the Gospels and go to Acts and
then into the Epistles (letters), i.e. Romans through to Jude. If you
are starting out then skip Revelation as this book requires some
teaching to be able to understand some of the symbols and history
behind the writing of the book.
For Old Testament reading start with Psalms and Proverbs and then move
your way through some of the other books. Ask God to guide you in
your reading and you will find that he will quickly show you the books
he wants you to read.
