Holiday's are certainly a time for
taking it easy. Being able to take things at half pace is certainly
a joy. We all need a little down time for fun and relaxation. Down
time should certainly help us with turning our hearts and minds to
God, but if we are unaware the devil can use the opportunity for
evil.
One King learned that lesson the hard
way. Scripture says in 2 Samuel 11:1, “In the spring, at the time
when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king's men and
the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged
Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.”
We all know what happened next. David
spots a women bathing and desires her and sin followed. When our
hearts aren't anchored in God and we take our eyes off the ball, it
is easy for the devil to lead us astray at times when we 'feel we
need a break'.
When next you decide to take a little
down time. Guard your spirit as the devil may well take the
opportunity to lead you 'down the garden path' in the wrong
direction.
