I remember a school play we did one year. My favourite part was about the children of Israel bemoaning their plight because they were stuck in the desert.
The gist of it was that they thought they were better off in Egypt than being in the desert because at least in Egypt they were well fed. Well yeh, you have to feed slaves if you want them to work.
We all get stuck in the past at some stage or another, but we cannot afford to romantisize the past. The truth is that if we are honest about things, there are things in our past that we all can do without.
If we don't focus forward we might miss the miracles that God is about to do; the quails, the manna, the water from the rock..... They go away if we turn back.... We have to keep going forward.
