It seems this time of year is going to
be filled with some painful reminders. Late April 2015 was the last
time I got to spend a holiday with my Gran-Babe Smith and we all miss
her so dearly. May 2016 was the final month I had with my beloved
Honey-Bear. My “year of grief” has been a painful and lonely
time. Although I can for the most part hold back the tears now, the
pain is till very real. Missing someone we've lost is always so very
difficult.
But.... Freedom day in South Africa,
reminds us of a joyous celebration, because it was for the very first
time in 1994 that all citizens of our beautiful country were able to
cast their vote in a free and fair election and not a single one of
us who voted that year will ever forget it. For the first time in
the history of our nation a vote had to be run over 2 days because
everyone, yes absolutely everyone wanted to make their voice heard.
Now 23 years later we are back at the
same precipice. We are standing on the edge of a time period in our
country's history that will once again make history and a time never
to be forgotten, because it is now that we are once again fighting
for our freedom. Not the right to vote in a free country but a right
to live in a country governed by......at least.... principled people
who will not fall prey to corruption. This freedom that we are
fighting is bringing our nation together in ways never seen before.
Only a few short days ago Angus Buchan
lead a church service as never before seen. Approximately 1.7
million South African's arrived just outside Bloemfontein to do the
one thing we all know is so needed right now, to pray! And pray they
did and I know, that I know, that I know God has heard them! We will
see the tides of change and the power of God sweep across our nation
once again........
Hold onto your seat.....it is coming!
