Path of the Jedi

During the holidays I decided to watch all 6 Star Wars movies again. Yoda's advice to Luke has rung in my head since then. Beware of anger and hate for they lead to the dark side of the force.

Isn't that exactly what Satan does, he puts hurdles in our path constantly to drive us to anger and hate, for these powerful emotions lead to greater sin.

We need to ask the Holy Spirit to help us daily to draw strength from him so that we can resist this temptation and stay strongly centered in Christ. Focus on God's word, refresh his word in your soul and you'll learn to turn potentially bad situations for good.

Pips and stones

I transplanted my Poinsettia's this weekend. In an effort to decorate the pot as well as stop naughty paws from digging out the sand, I thought I'd scatter some apricot pips and stones on top of the pot.

Bad idea. Luckily I checked and found that the pips were going moldy. Although annoying I felt it at least it showed proof of organic life, but they had to come out.

The stones in contrast were clean but cold and lifeless. It made me wonder what life forms do others see when they look at us?

Are we a growing life form that show promise? Are we stale and going a little moldy, or have we become hard as stone?

Allow God to speak to you about your Christian life and if you've been a little off lately ask him to breath fresh life into you.

Paid for

When making my Physio appointment I was a little concerned about the cost as I hadn't planned for the treatment. God heard my thoughts.

Later on in the day I received an advert for participation in a marketing group and the income fee offered was very close to the cost of the physio. Although the provision would come in different way, it would still assist in balancing the budget. I answered the advert and to my surprise I was contacted to attend. Yipeee!

God desires that we would recognize that he is our ultimate provider. Our salary is not a limitation. He desires for us to dream big and have faith.

I have great vision and faith for the things I believe God has planned for this year and the year thereafter. I hope you will join me in saying, "I believe all things are possible for them that believe."

The age of all things Techno

I made an appointment with a Physio therapist today as my back is out a bit. Knowing time this evening would be tight I asked them to email me the forms so that I could complete them in advance.

That got me thinking. My blog would never have been possible if it were not for the Techno era we live in today. Can you imagine hand writing copy after copy and then having them all sent out via postal services... No thank you!

Technology and social media in particular have made it so easy for us to spread the good news of the gospel of Christ, yet in our world it is usually bad news that sells.

What news have you been spreading. Is it gossip, negativity, anger and stress? How about taking the time to spread life and hope through encouragement and exhortation.

Bad news may sell fast but good news has the power to lift a beaten spirit.

Walk with the wise

Steven Curtis Chapman, sang a song about walking with the wise...
"When you walk with wise you grow wise, when we walk with the wise then our path will be bright I know, there's someone who's already been where we must go, so in the light they've learned we find, that we will grow wise, when we walk the wise."

Learning to walk with the wise requires some humility though. We have to be prepared to admit that we don't have all the answers and that we need a little help.

Scripture tells us that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and when we acknowledge that only God has all wisdom we allow our spirits to receive the heart knowledge of the truths of scripture.

We are also reminded that in the multitude of councilors there is wisdom. Finding people with more experience will help us to sidestep the mistakes others have made.

Choose your councilors carefully and ask God to fill you with wisdom today.

Soundtrack

I will admit, I'm one of those people who can happily watch the same movie over and over.  Sometimes I'll just have it on in the background as I do my household chores.

It could be the comedy, really good acting or great special effects that has me coming back over and over again.  One thing for certain, it is always the movie soundtrack that I love most!

What is the soundtrack your life?  Are you always confessing the negative?  Do you always see the worst in people?  OR do you attract people by your positive attitude, hope and smile?

When we draw our strength from God we can exude grace and peace in the midst of chaos and ultimately draw people to Christ.

20/40

2013 is going to be a year I have been looking forward to for some time now. This year I will not only be celebrating my 40^th birthday, but also commemorating 20 years of living in Jo'burg. I know this year will bring back many wonderful as well as some sad memories.

Time stand still for no-one, but as we take time to remember we grow. We grow because we have had some significant life experience and yet opportunities for great things still lie ahead. I hope that as this year unfolds you will celebrate with me as I take the occasional stroll down memory lane.

God has been good and his mercy is new every morning. I give thanks to God for this journey and that it certainly is not over yet. With Hope as my sail I can allow God to let the winds of change guide me to his arms once more every day.
